Tuskegee Women’s Tennis falls to top-seeded Barry in NCAA South Regional

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. — The Tuskegee women's tennis program has completed its 2023-24 season after falling to the No. 1 nationally ranked Barry University in the South Region 1 semifinal on Friday morning at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
 
The Golden Tigers were swept 4-0 by the top seed in the region on Barry's home court.

No. 8-seeded Tuskegee (20-8) came into the regional after winning the SIAC Tennis Championship, while Barry (19-4) were the Southern State Conference champions. The Buccaneers took the singles point, holding serve on all three courts as Taylor Ford and Dayna Jackson fell 6-1 on court two, before Chloe Griffin-Harrington and Kaome Tanyaradzwa fell 6-0 on court one. Meanwhile the pair of Barbara Phillips and Gabrielle Geary were trailing 5-0.
 
Singles play also proved to be a challenge as Tuskegee dropped the first set on all six courts. Barry claimed the winning point with wins at court four, two, and six where Ford fell 6-1, 6-0, Jamiya Ivory fell 6-1, 6-1, and Devynn Jackson dropped her match 6-0, 6-2.
