ATLANTA — Savannah State women’s basketball alumna Amari Heard signed with KBF Bashkimi, a professional basketball team in Kosovo, a country in southeast Europe. The news was shared on the team’s Facebook Saturday, July 20.
"We announce that we have reached an agreement with the player Amari Heard! Amari, who had an impressive season with Savannah State, brings her outstanding scoring ability to our team,” KBF Bashkimi shared on social media. “Last season, she averaged 13.9 points per game, 1.4 assists per game, 2.3 steals per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. Known for her exceptional scoring ability, Amari will make a significant impact on the court. We are excited to see her bring her talent and determination to KBF Bashkimi and help us achieve new successes!"
Heard led the Lady Tigers in points (348), made field goals (153), and steals (58) during her final season. She recorded a .453 field goal percentage, ranking second in the conference.
A native of West Point, Mississippi, Heard garners impressive conference accolades as a 2023-24 All-SIAC First Team selection and 2023-24 SIAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honoree. She was selected to the 2022-23 TIAA All-SIAC Second Team and recognized as the 2019-20 SIAC Freshman of the Year.
KBF Bashkimi will tip off its 2024-25 season in the Kosovo Women's Basketball Superleague, with Heard expected to play both guard and forward.
