ASU women's cross country team places 4th in season opening meet

VALDOSTA, Ga. — Albany State's women's cross country team made a notable impression at the VSU Border Clash on Friday, securing a commendable fourth-place finish in the highly competitive event. The meet, held at Freedom Park, brought together a strong field of athletes eager to showcase their skills. The Lady Golden Rams were ready to rise to the occasion.

Zenay Rhaney led the charge for the Lady Golden Rams with a standout performance, finishing in the top 10. Her exceptional pace and strategic running highlighted her dedication and preparation, earning her a spot among the elite competitors of the meet.

Nathalia RoweJulie Tungamirai and Azzaria Brown contributed significantly to the team's success. Rowe's impressive effort placed her in the top 30, while Tungamirai and Brown followed closely behind, ensuring the Lady Golden Rams had a strong presence throughout the race.

Their combined efforts and strategic racing allowed the Lady Golden Rams to secure a fourth-place finish, underscoring their collective strength and the hard work they had put into their training. The team's performance at the VSU Border Clash Meet was a testament to their resilience and skill, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.

As the athletes made their way back home, the Lady Golden Rams felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. With the season ahead, the team looks forward to building on this solid performance and striving for even greater achievements.

UP NEXT
The Lady Golden Rams will travel to Gainesville, Ga., on Friday, Sept. 13, to participate in the 12th annual North Georgia XC Invitational hosted by the University of North Georgia. The meet will be held at UNG Cross County Course and kick-off at 6:30 p.m.
