ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 10, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in matches played last week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – SYDNEY MELTON, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Outside Hitter | Senior | Hoover, Ala.
Melton has appeared in 16 sets, tallying 51 kills, 55 digs, nine blocks and eight assists for the Lady Golden Rams. In the Bobcats Classic, hosted by Georgia College & State University, the team finished 2-2. Melton recorded three consecutive double-double performances, including a season-high 18 kills, 23 points and 19 digs against Georgia College. She also ranks second in kills, fifth in hitting percentage and 10th in digs.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KAYLIN TEASLEY, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Middle Blocker | Sophomore | Carrollton, Ga.
Teasley recorded a game-high eight blocks to help the Lady Golden Rams secure their first win of the season over Young-Harris. She also had a strong performance in the loss to Georgia College, recording seven kills and six blocks. Teasley, who leads the conference in blocks, has recorded 24 kills, four aces, 12 digs and 21 blocks this season.
SETTER OF THE WEEK – EMILY COOK, SPRING HILL COLLEGE

Cook led the Badgers with 60 assists across four matches against nationally ranked opponents in the SpringHill Suites Invitational last week.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – MA'KAYLA JONES, TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Middle Blocker | Senior | Thomasville, Ala.
Jones finished the week with 32 kills on a .509 hitting percentage while leading the team with 11 blocks. The senior was also responsible for five digs and a service ace, which was good for 41.0 points. In the season opener against Stillman, she showcased her offensive skills, tallying 12 kills, five blocks, and two digs. Her solid all-around performance helped keep the Golden Tigers competitive in their first outing of the season. During the match against Tennessee Wesleyan, she continued her strong play, contributing four kills with a .400 hitting percentage. She also played a vital role defensively, adding a block and a service ace to her stats. In the third match of the week against LaGrange, she recorded 16 kills, five blocks, and two digs.
