CHARLOTTE, N.C. — SIAC Commissioner Anthony Holloman, Ed.D., was inducted into the 2024 Johnson C. Smith Athletic Hall of Fame last week in honor of his athletic accomplishments as a multisport athlete for the Golden Bulls.
A standout for the Golden Bulls football program, Holloman gained national attention as a Black College All-American Punt Returner and Black College Sports Magazine’s Freshman/Newcomer of the Year his freshman season.
Initially a cornerback, Holloman shifted to free safety his junior year, where his leadership and consistency helped anchor the JCSU defense. His collegiate career was highlighted by an impressive streak of game appearances, starting 35 of 36 contests in his career.
Holloman also competed in track and field, showcasing his talents in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
Beyond the playing fields, Holloman’s leadership was exhibited on campus as the President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a Dean’s List scholar and beloved resident advisor.
Holloman’s induction underscores his commitment to both athletic achievement and academic dedication, further cementing his legacy within the JCSU community.
Albany State University Athletic Director
Kristene Kelly, Ed.D., was also inducted for her meritorious service.
Kelly served as the university's sports information director for six and a half years and was awarded the John Holley Sports Information Director of the Year award in 2005.
