SIAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors: Jan. 14

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Jan. 14, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Taliah Wesley (Allen) and Marley Bell (Fort Valley State) were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TALIAH WESLEY, ALLEN UNIVERSITY
Guard | Senior | Blakely, Ga.
Wesley led the Yellow Jackets with a career-high 30 points in Allen's win over Claflin. She matched the highest point total by an SIAC player this season, shooting 11-for-15 from the floor. Wesley added four rebounds and two steals in the non-conference victory.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – MARLEY BELL, FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
Guard/Forward | Freshman | Montgomery, Ga.
Bell led Fort Valley State to victories over Middle Georgia State and Edward Waters, averaging 15.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and one steal per game. Against Middle Georgia State, she recorded nine points, six rebounds, a block, and a steal. In the win over Edward Waters, Bell shot 6-for-13 from the field and made 9-of-10 free throws for a season-high 21 points. Ten of those points helped the Lady Wildcats take the lead entering the fourth quarter. Bell also grabbed 15 rebounds for her first double-double, along with two blocks and a steal.
