ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Jan. 21, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week.

Sayerr Senghore (
Fort Valley State) were recognized.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – WALTER PEGGS JR., SPRING HILL COLLEGE

Peggs Jr. continues to lead the SIAC in multiple scoring categories after recording 33 points against LeMoyne-Owen and 19 in the Badgers’ win over Kentucky State. Over the past week, Peggs shot 55 percent from beyond the arc and 47 percent from the floor. He currently leads the nation with 26.8 points per game.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – SAYERR SENGHORE, FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY

Senghore helped Fort Valley State to its second 2-0 week in the last three, contributing to the team’s victories in four of the last five contests. The junior transfer averaged 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 1.0 block and 0.5 steal in the two wins last week. Senghore posted 19 points and 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season while shooting 8 of 10 from the field, 1 of 2 from beyond the arc, and 2 of 2 from the free-throw line against Savannah State. At Benedict, he went 6 of 9 from the field, 2 of 2 from 3-point range, and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line for 17 points, six rebounds and an assist.
