ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Jan. 21, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week.

Na'Haviya Paxton (
Albany State) were recognized.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TALIAH WESLEY, ALLEN UNIVERSITY
Guard | Senior | Blakely, Ga.
In Allen’s 76-64 win over Albany State, Wesley continued her strong senior campaign by posting her fourth double-double of the season. She led the Yellow Jackets’ scoring efforts with 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting. She also grabbed 11 rebounds, including six offensively, in the win. The Blakely, Georgia, native added five steals on the defensive end, marking the third time this season she has had at least five in a game.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – NA'HAVIYA PAXTON, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY

Paxton continues to demonstrate her value to Albany State as a standout player. Her performance was critical in the Lady Golden Rams’ win over Edward Waters, with a season-high 13 points, 50 percent from the free-throw line, six total rebounds, three assists and five steals. Despite recent losses to Tuskegee and Allen, Paxton has proven to be the driving force behind the Lady Golden Rams’ offense, consistently stepping up when her team needs her most. Against Tuskegee, Paxton went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and collected four assists and two steals. Against Allen, she finish with 13 points and 10 total rebounds. Paxton’s contributions offensively and defensively highlight her importance to the program and her potential for continued success.
