SIAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors: Jan. 7

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Jan. 7, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played Dec. 16 through Jan. 4. Keyra Peterson (Albany State) and Joirdyn Smith (Clark Atlanta) were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KEYRA PETERSON, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Guard/Forward | Junior | Atlanta, Ga.
Peterson delivered two back-to-back double-double performances last week, highlighting her consistency and leadership on the court.

Against Lane, Peterson recorded a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, keeping the Lady Golden Rams competitive despite the loss. Her 15 points and 18 rebounds in the win over LeMoyne-Owen solidified her role as a key contributor to the team’s success.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – JOIRDYN SMITH, CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY
Guard | Freshman | Fishers, Ind.
Smith led the way for the Lady Panthers in their 30-point victory over Spring Hill on Saturday with a team and season-high 16 points on 4-6 shooting from three-point range, 5-9 from the field, and 2-2 at the free throw line.
