Albany State Cross Country Finishes Second at Warhawk Invitational

DECATUR, Ga. — The Albany State University women's cross-country team continued their strong season with an impressive second-place finish at the Warhawk Invitational, hosted by Calhoun Community College. The Lady Golden Rams secured the runner-up position behind Blue Mountain College, showing exceptional depth and consistency among their top runners. The meet featured competitive programs across multiple divisions, including conference rivals Lane, Tuskegee, Spring Hill, and Miles, making the Lady Golden Rams' performance even more noteworthy.

Leading the way for Albany State was freshman Brea Vann, who once again delivered a standout performance with a third-place overall finish and a time of 19:31.9. Close behind was Faith Thompson, who crossed the line in 19:55.5 to claim ninth place, marking another top-10 finish for the team. Sydney Haywood continued to impress, clocking 20:27.5 to finish 16th overall, while veteran runner Dasia Gilyard followed in 21:09.1 for 26th. Rounding out the top five was Azzaria Brown, who posted a solid 21:21.1 to secure 28th place and help lock in Albany State's second-place team finish.

The Lady Golden Rams continue to demonstrate their depth and determination as they prepare for their biggest test yet. Up next, Albany State will defend its title at the 2025 SIAC Women's Cross-Country Championship on Friday, October 24th, in Macon, Georgia. With momentum on their side and a strong mix of veteran leadership and rising young talent, the Lady Golden Rams are poised to make another championship run.
