SIAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors: Oct. 21

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Women's Volleyball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 21, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in matches played last week. Naomy Vergez (Edward Waters), Norah Laurore (Edward Waters), Morgan Hebert (Fort Valley State) and Josiya Teague (Albany State) were recognized.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – NAOMY VERGEZ, EDWARD WATERS UNIVERSITY
Outside Hitter/Right Side | Graduate | La Romana, Dominican Republic
Vergez had an amazing week for the EWU Lady Tigers helping them to a 1-1 record on the week. Vergez notched double-doubles in both matches finishing with 17 kills, 11 digs and three aces in a 3-0 victory over Clark Atlanta. In a close 3-2 loss to Savannah State, Vergez compiled 24 kills with a season high 21 digs to go along with one ace. She finished the pair of matches with a .337 hitting percentage.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – NORAH LAURORE, EDWARD WATERS UNIVERSITY
Right-Side Hitter | Sophomore | Davenport, Fla.
Laurore had an impressive week of matches for the EWU Lady Tigers, turning in great all around performances. In the Lady Tigers 3-0 victory over Clark Atlanta, Laurore nearly tallied a double double finishing with nine kills, 10 digs, five blocks, one ace and one assist. In EWU's 3-2 road loss to Savannah State, she captured a double double with 10 kills and 14 digs to go along with seven blocks and three aces.

SETTER OF THE WEEK – MORGAN HEBERT, FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
Setter | Senior | Fresno, Calif.
Hebert paced the successful Wildcat offense leading the setting effort with 78 assists. She was also a key front row contributor with three solo blocks and a block assist. In the back row effort, Hebert had 19 digs and three service aces to cap a well rounded week of play.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – JOSIYA TEAGUE, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Outside Hitter/Right Side | Freshman | Tampa, Fla.
Teague powered the Lady Golden Rams to a dominant 3-0 sweep over Benedict College, showcasing her offensive consistency and efficiency on the court. Teague recorded 16 kills on the night while maintaining a steady attacking rhythm that helped Albany State secure crucial points in each set (25-17, 25-18, 29-27). Her ability to perform under pressure, particularly in the tight third set, proved instrumental in ASU’s victory. The freshman standout continues to make an immediate impact for the Lady Golden Rams, establishing herself as one of the league’s rising offensive threats.
