SIAC Football Weekly Honors: Oct. 7

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Football Players of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 7, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Miles Scott (Morehouse), Stephen Rowser (Morehouse), Nanders Lawrence (Allen) and Jon McCall (Kentucky State) were recognized.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MILES SCOTT, MOREHOUSE COLLEGE
Quarterback | Junior | Laurel, Md.
Scott led a 27–20 comeback win over Tuskegee in the Morehouse–Tuskegee Classic. He completed 22-of-35 for 326 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. Scott added 41 rushing yards on seven carries and accounted for every positive yard of offense the Maroon Tigers gained on the day. He threw two fourth-quarter touchdowns, including the game-winner with 1:55 remaining. Scott directed three straight touchdown drives from late in the third quarter through the fourth.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – STEPHEN ROWSER, MOREHOUSE COLLEGE
Nickelback/Safety | Sophomore | Cartersville, Ga.
Rowser set the tone in the second half of the Morehouse-Tuskgee Classic victory. He recorded 10 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble. The added pressure helped the Maroon Tigers hold Tuskegee to three points after halftime and seal field position late.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – NANDERS LAWRENCE, ALLEN UNIVERSITY
Wide Receiver | R-Sophomore | Dixiana, S.C
In an away game against No. 1 Benedict College, Lawrence had five kickoff returns for 191 yards, including an 88-yard return on the opening kickoff that set up a 1-yard touchdown to tie the game 7-7 in the opening minutes of the hard-fought 38–28 loss.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – JON MCCALL, KENTUCKY STATE UNIVERSITY
Wide Receiver | Senior | New Orleans, La.
McCall led the Thorobreds with 84 yards on eight receptions and added two touchdowns.
