ATLANTA —
The 2025 SIAC football title will go through Albany. The Golden Rams sealed their place as the number one seed and championship host after defeating Savannah State 21-18 at home.
In addition to hosting the championship game at the Albany State University Coliseum on November 15, the conference office and ASU will be partnering to host a food drive benefiting the Albany Mission Rescue.
“We have had a very competitive football season, full of excitement, that is coming down to the wire,” said Dr. Anthony Holloman, SIAC Commissioner. “Albany State has put together a spectacular season to earn the honor of competing for the conference title at home. As a powerhouse program in our league, we value the university and its surrounding community. For that reason, we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Albany State and the Albany Mission Rescue to make a positive impact, beyond the playing surface, on one of the many communities that make the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference one of the leading forces in Division II athletics.”
Attendees will be able to donate three non-perishable food items at the championship game, in exchange for a coupon that will grant them $5 off general admission tickets. Participants must purchase tickets in person on game day to receive the discounted pricing.
“At Albany State University, we believe in the power of community and the importance of coming together to support those in need,” said Dr. Robert Scott, Albany State University President. “As we prepare to host the SIAC Football Championship, we are proud to partner with the SIAC in an effort that reflects our shared values of service, compassion, and collective responsibility.”
“We invite fans to bring three canned goods to support our local food initiatives. In doing so, you will receive $5 off general admission as a thank-you for helping us make a meaningful impact right here in our community,” he continued. “Championship moments extend beyond the field, they are built through unity, generosity, and care for one another. We look forward to welcoming you to campus and celebrating not only outstanding competition, but also the spirit of giving that makes the Golden Ram family and our SIAC community so special.”
The game time and ticket sales will be announced by the SIAC in the coming days.
The race for who will face Albany State in the championship is still up for grabs. Currently, the front contenders for the second seed are Benedict College and Kentucky State University, but fans will have to wait until week 10 to see who earns the second spot.
