SIAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors: Dec. 16

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men's Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Dec. 16, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Khalil Genwright (Tuskegee) and Cameron Jernigan (Miles) were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KHALIL GENWRIGHT, TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Guard | Junior | Wilmington, N.C.
Genwright delivered a dominant, consistent two-game stretch to lead the Golden Tigers to a perfect 2-0 week, averaging 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steal while shooting 41.2% from the field, 25% from 3-point range and 77.8% from the free-throw line. Genwright was Tuskegee’s leading scorer for the week and remains the team’s top offensive option through the opening games of SIAC play.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – CAMERON JERNIGAN, MILES COLLEGE
Forward | Senior | Gary, Ind.
Jernigan produced on both ends of the floor for Miles this week, averaging 10.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.5 steals while shooting 60% from the field as the Golden Bears went 2-0. He recorded his third straight double-double in a win over Benedict with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting, 14 rebounds, two blocks and three steals. He added four blocks against Allen, marking the sixth time in seven games he has recorded at least four blocks, and has pulled down 14 rebounds in three consecutive games. Jernigan currently leads the SIAC in rebounds and blocked shots, ranking second nationally in blocks per game and eighth in rebounds per contest.
