Clark Atlanta wins second-straight

ATLANTA — The Lady Panthers picked up their second-straight victory behind a season-high 22-point performance from Trinity Jones to power Clark Atlanta past Spring Hill, 81-46, on Saturday afternoon. Three Lady Panthers scored in double figures to help CAU improve to 3-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Janiah Caples poured in seven first-quarter points as the Lady Panthers controlled momentum early with a 26-15 advantage heading into the second frame. 
  • The Lady Panthers caught fire from three point range in the second quarter as Caples and Trinity Jones combined for 5-of-8 shooting from downtown, cruising to a 51-26 advantage going into the intermission.
  • Clark Atlanta continued to lay it on in the third as they used a 52% (9-of-17) shooting third frame to swell their lead to 42 points heading into the final frame.
  • Keyra Peterson sank a pair of free throws to cap off the Lady Panthers largest margin of victory this season at 81-46. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Trinity Jones led all scorers with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor, 5-of-8 from three-point range, and a perfect 3-for-3 from the foul line.
  • Janiah Caples added 18 points of her own, followed by Atreonia Garner with points in the win.
  • Clark Atlanta shot 46.9% from the floor, 37.5% from long range, and 66.7% from the charity stripe.
  • The Panthers outrebounded the Badgers 40-37 while also outsourcing them down low with 40-22 scoring in the paint.

Clark Atlanta returns to action on Thursday, December 11 as they head to Central State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
