SIAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors: Feb. 18

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 18, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Tederia Ashley (Miles) and Mia Morel (Edward Waters) were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TEDERIA ASHLEY, MILES COLLEGE
Forward | Senior | Huntsville, Ala.
Ashley had 24 points, 18 rebounds, three assists and two blocks across two Miles' road wins last week. She posted a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) — including the game-sealing basket with 14 seconds left — in a 49-46 win at Spring Hill. She added 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in a 78-59 win at Benedict.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – MIA MOREL, EDWARD WATERS UNIVERSITY
Point Guard | Junior | Madison, Wis.
Morel poured in two double-figure scoring efforts to help Edward Waters finish 1-1 last week. She opened with 11 points and nine rebounds, shooting 3-for-6 from the field in the win over Benedict. She then followed with 23 points, two rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a loss to Clark Atlanta. Morel finished the week with a perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line.
