SIAC Men's Basketball Preview: Feb. 20

ATLANTA — The SIAC men’s basketball schedule features a slate of divisional conference games in the last week of the regular season. Here's a list of the matchups and where to watch the games.

CLARK ATLANTA

Clark Atlanta (17-8, 14-4 SIAC) will wrap up the regular season with three road games this week against Morehouse (14-12, 11-7 SIAC) on Saturday, Benedict (5-20, 5-13 SIAC) on Monday and Allen (6-18, 2-16 SIAC) on Wednesday with a chance to secure the No. 1 tournament seed in the east. The Panthers defeated both Benedict and Allen earlier this season but lost 75-71 against Morehouse.

Clark Atlanta held its own atop the east division standings last week, securing back-to-back victories against Edward Waters, 83-75, on Saturday and Savannah State, 70-66, on Monday.

Senior guard Jalen Williams led the Panthers with 40 points across the two games, tallying 21 points against Edward Waters before matching a game-high 19 against Savannah State.

Albany State (16-9, 13-5 SIAC) will travel to Fort Valley State (10-15, 9-9 SIAC), Edward Waters (16-6, 12-6 SIAC), and Savannah State (11-11, 9-9 SIAC) this week. The Golden Rams have beaten Savannah State and Fort Valley State this season but lost 74-64 to Edward Waters.

Albany State rose to second in the east division last week after defeating Benedict, 68-60, and Allen, 73-55.

Sophomore forward Blaise Wallace led the Golden Rams with 32 points and double-double performances across the two matchups, with a game-high 15 points and 13 total rebounds against Benedict and 17 points and 10 total rebounds against Allen.

Edward Waters (16-6, 12-6 SIAC) will host Savannah State (11-11, 9-9 SIAC), Albany State (16-9, 13-5 SIAC) and Fort Valley State (10-15, 9-9 SIAC) this week. EWU defeated the Golden Rams and the Wildcats in January and lost 67-63 to Savannah State.

Edward Waters slipped to third in the east division standings last week following road losses to both Clark Atlanta and Morehouse.

Despite the loss, junior guard Prince Davies III powered the Tigers with a game-high 30 points at CAU, helping him to earn SIAC Player of the Week honors.

Morehouse (14-12, 11-7 SIAC) will host Clark Atlanta (17-8, 14-4 SIAC) on Saturday before traveling to Allen (6-18, 2-16 SIAC) on Monday and Benedict (5-20, 5-13 SIAC) on Wednesday to close out the regular season. The Maroon Tigers look for a season sweep of the three teams after beating them earlier this season.

Morehouse maintained its position at fourth place in the east division, going 1-1 last week. The Maroon Tigers suffered a 68-55 loss to Tuskegee in the 2025 NBA HBCU Classic on Saturday but rebounded with an 88-82 home victory over Edward Waters on Tuesday.

Junior guard Sincere Key led Morehouse against Tuskegee with 15 points. Key was followed by sophomore guard Cedric Taylor III, who registered a team-high 21 against Edward Waters.

Fort Valley State (10-15, 9-9 SIAC) will host Albany State (16-9, 13-5 SIAC) in its Winter Homecoming game on Saturday before traveling to Savannah State (11-11, 9-9 SIAC) on Monday and Edward Waters (16-6, 12-6 SIAC) on Wednesday. The Wildcats fell 87-83 to Edward Waters and 73-52 to Albany State but edged Savannah State 58-54 in their first meetings this season.

Fort Valley State went 1-1 to maintain its fifth position in the east division last week. The Wildcats slid past Allen in a 62-61 nail-biter on Saturday and lost 65-53 to Benedict on Tuesday.

Junior forward Jaylen Jackson led the Wildcats with 26 points across both contests, tallying 13 points in each.

Savannah State (11-11, 9-9 SIAC) will travel to Edward Waters (16-8, 12-5 SIAC) on Saturday and return home to face Fort Valley State (10-15, 9-9 SIAC) on Monday and Albany State (16-9, 13-5 SIAC) on Wednesday. The Tigers lost 65-56 to Albany State and 58-54 to Fort Valley State in January but celebrated a 67-63 win over Edward Waters earlier this month.

Savannah State went 1-1 in conference play to maintain its sixth in the east division last week. The Tigers fell 70-66 at Clark Atlanta but rebounded 69-58 at Allen.

Senior guard Ayjay Plain led Savannah State with 36 points across the two contests, recording 10 points at Clark Atlanta before putting up a game-high 26 at Allen, helping the Tigers to their 11th win of the season.

Benedict (5-20, 5-13 SIAC), seventh in the east division, will host Allen (6-18, 2-16 SIAC), Clark Atlanta (17-8, 14-4 SIAC), and Morehouse (14-12, 11-7 SIAC) this week. The Tigers have a chance to break even against the three teams this season after losing 84-73 at Morehouse, 79-57 at Clark Atlanta and 59-52 at Allen earlier this season.

Benedict concluded a four-game road stretch last week, falling 68-60 at Albany State on Saturday and winning 65-53 at Fort Valley State on Tuesday.

Junior guard Caleb Hymon led Benedict again this week with 34 points across the two contests, recording 12 points at Albany State before leading all scorers with 22 in the victory over Fort Valley State.

The Yellow Jackets went 1-2 against the three teams earlier this month, defeating Benedict 59-52 and losing 72-54 at Clark Atlanta and 72-52 at Morehouse.

Allen fell three straight last week, losing 62-61 at Fort Valley State, 73-55 at Albany State and 69-58 at Savannah State.

Despite the losses, junior guard Peyton Weathersby led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points at Fort Valley State. Weathersby was followed by junior guard Mike Best, who led all scorers with 21 points at Albany State and contributed 14 against Savannah State.

The Marauders went 2-1 against the three teams earlier this season, winning 91-85 at Kentucky State and 86-73 against Lane and losing 82-81 against Miles.

Central State jumped to second place in the west division after going 2-0 at home last week. The Marauders notched a 78-74 win over Spring Hill on Saturday and secured a 75-57 victory over Tuskegee on Tuesday.

Junior guard Brandon Scott powered Central State with 19 points against Spring Hill. Scott was followed by junior guard Steven Key II, who put up 18 points against Tuskegee, helping the Marauders extend their season win streak to three.
