SIAC Women's Basketball Preview: Feb. 20

ATLANTA — The SIAC women’s basketball schedule features a slate of divisional conference games in the last week of the regular season. Here's a list of the matchups and where to watch the games.

CLARK ATLANTA
at Benedict – No stream available

Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 5:30 p.m. ET

Clark Atlanta (21-5, 14-3 SIAC) will face Benedict (9-15, 7-10 SIAC) on Monday and Allen (16-7, 11-5 SIAC) on Wednesday with a chance to secure the No. 1 tournament seed in the east. The Lady Panthers aim for a season sweep against the teams after beating Benedict 67-63 and Allen 63-58 in their previous meetings.

Clark Atlanta remained atop the east division standings, winning 63-57 against Edward Waters on Saturday, 77-51 against Savannah State on Monday and 63-58 against Allen on Thursday.

Sophomore guard/forward Atreonia Garner led the Lady Panthers with 50 points across the three games, registering 17 points against Edward Waters before leading all scorers with 19 in the victory over Savannah State and contributing 14 in the win over Allen.

Allen (16-8, 11-6 SIAC) will face Benedict (9-15, 7-10 SIAC) on Saturday before returning home to host Clark Atlanta (21-5, 14-3 SIAC) on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets went 1-1 in their previous meetings with the teams, winning 76-72 against Benedict and losing 63-58 at Clark Atlanta.

Allen maintained its position at second place in the east division after going 2-1 on the road last week. The Yellow Jackets won 68-65 at Fort Valley State on Saturday and 58-52 at Albany State on Monday and lost 63-58 at Clark Atlanta on Thursday.

Senior guard Taliah Wesley led Allen with 48 points across the three games, registering a game-high 22 points against Fort Valley State before contributing 14 at Albany State and 12 at Clark Atlanta.

Edward Waters maintained its position at third in the east division standings despite losing 63-57 at Clark Atlanta on Saturday. Junior point guard Mia Morel led the Tigers with a game-high 23 points in the contest, helping her to earn SIAC Newcomer of the Week honors.

The Tigers won 59-48 at Fort Valley State and 76-64 against Edward Waters but lost 61-43 at Albany State earlier this season.

Savannah State held its position at fourth place in the east despite losing 77-51 to division leader Clark Atlanta on Monday. Senior guard Myasia Jones paced the Tigers with 18 points in the contest.

Benedict edged Albany State 66-64 on Saturday and picked up a 58-48 victory at Fort Valley State on Tuesday to remain fifth in the east division standings.

Sophomore guard Alaysia Nash and senior center Taylor Christmas led Benedict across the two contests with 25 points apiece. Nash tallied 16 points at Albany State and contributed 9 at Fort Valley State, while Christmas registered 15 points against the Golden Rams and posted 10 against the Wildcats.

Fort Valley State (8-15, 4-12 SIAC) will host Albany State (7-15, 4-12 SIAC) in its Winter Homecoming game on Saturday before traveling to Savannah State (11-11, 7-9 SIAC) on Monday and Edward Waters (13-8, 9-7 SIAC) on Wednesday. The Wildcats beat Albany State 59-56 and Edward Waters 61-57 and lost 59-48 to Savannah State previously.

Fort Valley State lost 68-65 to Allen and 58-48 to Benedict, holding on to its sixth-place position in the east division standings last week.

Freshman forward Kimora Wade paced the Wildcats with 25 points across the two contests, recording 13 points against Allen before showcasing a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double performance against Benedict.

The Lady Golden Rams beat Savannah State 61-43 and Edward Waters 57-50 but lost 59-56 to Fort Valley State earlier this season.

The Lady Golden Rams lost 66-64 to Benedict and 58-52 to Allen for their third straight loss.

Junior guard/forward Keyra Peterson led Albany State with a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double against Benedict. Peterson was followed by freshman guard Kendall Davis, who posted a game-high 17 against Allen.
