SIAC Softball Weekly Honors: March 18

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Softball Players of the Week on Tuesday, March 18, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Rycca Hinton (Spring Hill) and Monica Rose (Tuskegee) were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – RYCCA HINTON, SPRING HILL COLLEGE
Pitcher/Outfielder | Senior | Mobile, Ala.
On top of her fantastic pitching performances, Hinton went 10-for-19 (.526) over the course of the week at the crossover. In total, she recorded six home runs, 15 runs and 13 RBIs. The senior utility player also added six walks and seven stolen bases. Her highlight performance came against Benedict, where she went 3-for-3 with two homers, four runs scored and seven RBIs. Behind her offensive surge and strong pitching, the Badgers swept the competition, securing seven straight wins.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – MONICA ROSE, TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Pitcher/First Base | Freshman | Pleasant Grove, Ala.
Rose was exceptional in the circle, picking up multiple wins and closing out games in relief for the Golden Tigers. Over the week, the freshman pitched 21.1 innings, allowed 17 hits, seven runs, and just three walks, while striking out 28 batters. In Tuskegee’s 8-0 shutout victory over Albany State, Rose delivered a masterful performance, tossing a complete game five-inning shutout while allowing just three hits and striking out six batters. She also played a crucial role in securing Tuskegee’s 8-2 win over Allen, pitching three scoreless innings in relief, striking out three, and not allowing a single hit. Across multiple appearances during the crossover, Rose consistently shut down opposing lineups, finishing with an impressive ERA and a high strikeout-to-walk ratio.
