SIAC Softball Preview: Week 8

All records and statistics are based on SIAC contests.

ATLANTA — As the softball regular season nears its end, squads will compete in a high-stakes lineup to secure SIAC tournament berths. Only the top four seeds in each division will advance. Here's a look at matchups on deck this week.

SAVANNAH STATE AT EDWARD WATERS
Game 1: Friday, April 11, at 1 p.m. ET
Game 2: Friday, April 11, at 3 p.m. ET
Game 3: Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. ET

Edward Waters (15-6 SIAC) will host Savannah State (11-10 SIAC) in an east division series this week. EWU is coming off a three-game sweep over Allen last weekend, where the team put up a season-high 25 runs in game 3. SSU lost its series to Benedict last week but posted a 9-0 shutout in the final game. Currently, EWU is No. 1 in the east division, and SSU is No. 4 in the east division.

TUSKEGEE AT MILES
Game 1: Friday, April 11, at 2 p.m. ET

Tuskegee (17-2 SIAC) will travel to Miles (9-6 SIAC) for a west division series this weekend. The Lady Golden Tigers extended their SIAC win streak to four with a sweep of Kentucky State last week, only one run in the entire series. Miles’ series at Lane last week was postponed. Currently, TU is No. 1 in the west division, and MC is No. 3 in the west division.

ALBANY STATE AT FORT VALLEY STATE

Albany State (11-5 SIAC) will play in-state rival Fort Valley State (12-9 SIAC) on the road in an east division series this weekend. Albany State extended its SIAC win streak to five after sweeping Clark Atlanta last week in the Lady Golden Rams' final home series. The Wildcats will return to SIAC action after sweeping Clark Atlanta two weeks ago. Currently, FVSU is No. 2 in the east division, and ASU is No. 3 in the east division.

ALLEN AT BENEDICT

Benedict (9-12 SIAC) will host neighboring Allen (3-15 SIAC) in an east division series this weekend. The Lady Tigers went 2-1 against Savannah State last week, after coming from behind late in the first two games. Allen went winless in its series against Edward Waters last week, extending its SIAC losing streak to six. Currently, BC is No. 5 in the east division, and AU is No. 6 in the east division.

Spring Hill (16-3 SIAC) will travel to Kentucky State (8-9 SIAC) for a west division series this weekend. The Badgers swept LeMoyne-Owen last week, extending their SIAC win streak to six. The Lady Thorobreds will look to rebound after being swept for the first time this season at Tuskegee last week. Currently, SHC is No. 2 in the west division, and KSU is No. 4 in the west division.

LANE AT LEMOYNE-OWEN

Lane (5-11 SIAC) will travel to LeMoyne-Owen (4-15 SIAC) for a west division series this weekend. The Lady Dragons will return to action after a slate of postponed nonconference games last week, having not faced an SIAC opponent in two weeks. LeMoyne-Owen was held to zero runs at Spring Hill last week, going 0-3 in the series and extending its SIAC losing streak to four games. Currently, LC is No. 5 in the west division, and LOC is No. 6 in the west division.
