SIAC Softball Preview: Week 9

All records and statistics are based on SIAC contests.

ATLANTA — As the softball regular season wraps up this week, teams face critical matchups in a final push for SIAC tournament berths. Only the top four seeds in each division will advance. Here's a look at games on tap to close out the regular season.

MILES AT LANE
Game 3: Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m. ET

Miles (9-9 SIAC) will travel to Lane (8-11 SIAC) to play a rescheduled west division series this week. Both teams are still alive in the postseason hunt and will play for a spot in the tournament. The Lady Golden Bears were swept by Tuskegee at home last weekend, leaving the door open for Lane to make a move. The Dragons enter with momentum following their first series sweep of the season against LeMoyne-Owen last week, highlighted by an 11-2 victory in Game 2. Currently, MC is No. 3 in the west division, and LC is No. 5 in the west division.

Albany State (11-8 SIAC) will travel to Allen (3-18 SIAC) for its final east division series this weekend. The Lady Golden Rams have already clinched a spot in the tournament, but will look to bounce back after a winless outing against in-state rival Fort Valley State last weekend. Allen’s late-season slump continued last week when the team was swept by Benedict. Currently, ASU is No. 3 in the east division, and AU is No. 6 in the east division.
