FORT VALLEY, Ga. —
Fort Valley State University men's volleyball (13-9, 9-0 SIAC) roll through
LeMoyne-Owen College (3-13, 2-7 SIAC) 3-0 on Friday night.
The Wildcats took the first set 25-12, the second set 25-15 and the third set 25-5. As a team FVSU hit .407.
Fort Valley struck first to kick off the match with 2-0 unanswered points right off the bat. FVSU took control of the set going on a four-point run at the 12th point with
Taviian Martin behind the service line. Yet another four-point run pushed the home squad up 20-10 with
Isaiah Fedd serving. Three unanswered points ended the first set 25-12.
Much like the first set, FVSU went back-to-back to take the 2-0 lead. There were three, three-point runs for the Wildcats to push them over the Magicians.
The third set was all Fort Valley from the jump scoring first. After a LOC answer
Marty Boyd took to the service line for a three-point stay for the 4-1 lead. At the fifth point of the set for FVSU, Martin was serving as the Wildcats went on a four-point run. As the Wildcats hit their 11th point of the set,
Kevin Charles went behind the service line and was back there for seven straight points.
Jakaris Brown was next in rotation for Fort Valley and he closed the match serving during an eight-point run to end it 25-5.
Fedd led the offense with eight kills for an .889 percentage on the match. He also added two service aces.
Jaxon Hicks and Martin had the second most kills with four each. Hicks hit .500 and Martin hit .300. The Wildcats doubled up on setters with
Oshane Farquharson and
Jose Gallardo. Farquharson led with 12 assists and Gallardo was right behind him with 10.
FVSU had a 34 dig defense on the evening.
Raheem Thomas led the effort with six and Martin had the second most with four. Thee great wall of Fort Valley was in full affect with nine total blocks.
Khairi Mitchell and Martin tallied the lone solo blocks.
Rashaun Wright, Hicks and Farquharson accounted for six block assists as they all had two.
The Wildcats and the Magicians will go head to head again on Saturday, April 5th at 1 p.m.
