Albany State (30-20) earned the SIAC automatic bid by virtue of its 14-12 victory over Savannah State in the conference championship, marking its first title since 2018 and fourth straight 30-win season.
The regional tournament will be Albany State's fifth NCAA appearance, following trips in 2018, 2015, 2010 and 2006.
The Golden Rams’ regular-season upset of the Spartans sets the stage for a thrilling postseason dance, only four days away. The winner of the Albany State–Tampa matchup will face the winner of No. 5 Lynn University and No. 4 Mississippi College on Friday, May 16, at 5 p.m. ET.
