Spring Hill Softball Falls to Tampa in NCAA South Regional

TAMPA, Fla. — The No. 8-seeded Spring Hill College softball team fell 4-0 to No. 1-seeded Tampa in the opening game of the NCAA South Regional at the Naimoli Family Softball Complex on Thursday.

The Badgers (31-22) kept things close against the top-seeded and No. 5 ranked Spartans (41-8). Rycca HintonTaylor Pittman and Amanda Glowacki each tallied a hit in the contest.
 
Tampa opened scoring in the second and continued its run through the end of the game, opening the regional with a 4-0 win over Spring Hill.
 
Leighanna Turk struck out two with three runs and seven hits in 3.2 innings. Emma Curry finished the game with two strikeouts, two walks and one run on three hits over 2.1 innings of work.
 
SHC will continue its week in the regional with a game against No. 5-seeded Barry on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
