CHICAGO —
Morehouse College proudly made its mark at the 2025 Black Student-Athlete Summit, held May 21–24 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the summit welcomed over 1,700 attendees from across the country, including student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and thought leaders dedicated to advancing the experiences of Black student-athletes.
Morehouse sent a dynamic delegation of six student-athletes and one coach to this year's event, each of whom contributed to the summit's central themes of academic empowerment, leadership, mental wellness, and personal and professional development. Representing Morehouse were:
- Elijah Pinckney (Baseball), a standout outfielder and recent HBCU All-Star Game invitee
- Amir Makle (Baseball), a key contributor to the Maroon Tigers' infield
- Khamar Carlisle (Football), a leader from the Maroon Tigers' defensive unit
- Sidney Morris (Cross Country/Track), a conference champion distance runner
- Charles Parrish, Jr. (Volleyball), one of the inaugural leaders of Morehouse's emerging volleyball program
- Brogan Korta (Football, 2025 Graduate), a recent graduate and veteran presence on the gridiron
Joining the student-athletes was Assistant Men's Basketball Coach Boaz Bivens, who attended leadership and coaching development sessions. Bivens also took part in panels focused on the role of coaches as mentors and advocates for holistic athlete development.
The summit, known nationally for fostering community and leadership among Black collegiate athletes, offered four days of workshops, networking sessions, and panel discussions. Topics ranged from financial literacy and NIL education to mental health advocacy and social justice engagement.
Now in its 10th year, the Black Student-Athlete Summit continues to be a transformative experience, equipping athletes like those from Morehouse with tools to excel not only in sports, but also in life after college.
