JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —
Edward Waters University proudly announces that Women’s Basketball Head Coach
Eric Jackson Jr. has been selected to coach at the third annual HBCU All-Star Dream Classic, an event celebrating the top talent from Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
The event will take place Saturday, Aug. 9, at the historic Rucker Park in Harlem, New York. The women’s game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 6:30 p.m.
The HBCU All-Star Dream Classic is a hallmark event that brings together elite HBCU student-athletes and coaches, providing a platform to showcase their skills and celebrate Black excellence in collegiate basketball. Held at the Holcombe Rucker Park in Harlem, New York, the Classic is more than just a game; it's a cultural celebration that honors the rich legacy and contributions of HBCUs to the sport and society at large.
Jackson's selection is a testament to his impactful career and leadership in women's basketball. Before joining EWU, Jackson led Rust College's women's basketball program for seven seasons, amassing an impressive 148-43 record. Under his guidance, Rust College secured four consecutive Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular-season titles, three straight GCAC tournament titles, and four consecutive NAIA Women's Basketball Tournament appearances.
Since his inaugural season (2024-25) at Edward Waters, Jackson has been instrumental in revitalizing the program, instilling a culture of discipline, resilience, and competitive spirit. His coaching philosophy emphasizes not only athletic excellence but also academic achievement and personal development, aligning with the holistic mission of HBCUs.
The HBCU All-Star Dream Classic serves as a beacon of opportunity, highlighting the talents of HBCU student-athletes and coaches on a national stage. Jackson's participation further underscores the caliber of leadership present at Edward Waters University and reflects the institution's commitment to excellence in athletics and beyond.
