MACON, Ga. — Student-athletes, coaches and administrators from all 13 SIAC football programs convened at the Tubman African American Museum in Macon on Tuesday to kick off the new academic year and preview the exciting season ahead via panels moderated by Marvin L. James II. James is a 25-year sports reporter veteran and currently serves as the Georgia High School Association Director of Media Relations.
"The excitement in the room was palpable as the road to a championship begins here!" said SIAC Commissioner Anthony Holloman, Ed.D. "Football media day always brings together the best of the best, young men who excel on and off the playing fields while representing their respective institutions with dignity, humility and a competitive fire."
Attendees were greeted by 2022 SIAC MVP and current Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson. Wilson, a Fort Valley State alumnus, welcomed everyone to the occasion and introduced the 2025 predicted order of finish video.
Wilson, entering his third season with Green Bay, led the Wildcats with 1,371 rushing yards and 17 TDs on 209 carries (6.6 avg.) in 2022 on his way to earning SIAC MVP and Offensive Player of the Year honors. He was also named a second team Division II All-American by the American Football Coaches Association.
In addition to addressing the media on Tuesday, teams volunteered at the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia on Monday as a part of the league's Community Service Day initiatives, assisting with organizing donations and essential tasks.
