SIAC Football Weekly Honors: Sept. 2

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Football Players of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 2, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Tiant Wyche (Albany State), David Law-Mortimer (Edward Waters), Cameron Watts (Albany State), and Noah Bodden (Edward Waters) were recognized.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TIANT WYCHE, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Running Back | Sophomore | Jacksonville, Fla.
Tiant Wyche was a driving force in the Golden Rams’ dominant season-opening victory over Shaw University. The sophomore running back showcased his explosive playmaking ability, rushing for 137 yards and two touchdowns to lead the ground attack. Wyche’s performance set the tone offensively, providing consistency, power, and big-play capability that helped Albany State control the game from start to finish.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – DAVID LAW-MORTIMER, EDWARD WATERS UNIVERSITY
Defensive Back | Junior | Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
David Law-Mortimer had an outstanding game defensively finishing the game second on the team with five tackles. Law-Mortimer also turned in a momentum-shifting play scooping and scoring a fumble recovery for 54 yards to tie the game at 14-14.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – CAMERON WATTS, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Defensive Back | Junior | Tyrone, Ga.
Cameron Watts continues to shine as a true dual-threat for the Golden Rams, serving as both a standout on special teams and a reliable member of the Dirty Blue Defense. Despite an early punt return setback, Watts responded explosively, recording two kickoff returns for 115 yards, highlighted by a spectacular 90-yard touchdown return that shifted momentum in Albany State’s favor. His ability to impact the game in multiple phases makes him one of the Golden Rams’ most versatile and dynamic playmakers.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – NOAH BODDEN, EDWARD WATERS UNIVERSITY
Quarterback | Senior | Valley Stream, N.Y.
Southern University transfer quarterback Noah Bodden made a strong debut for the Purple & Orange, completing 18 of 27 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score. Bodden's poise and efficiency helped ignite the Tigers' comeback after their slow start. Bodden finished the game without taking a sack or turning over the ball.
