SIAC Football Weekly Honors: Sept. 23

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Football Players of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 23, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Fabian Duncan (Allen), Jordan Thompson (Kentucky State), Jaxon Williams (Benedict), and Darius Ocean (Benedict) were recognized.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – FABIAN DUNCAN, ALLEN UNIVERSITY
Running Back | Sophomore | Charlotte, N.C.
Duncan helped AU improve to 2-0 in the SIAC with a 49-38 win versus Clark Atlanta breaking a AU school record with 46 rushes for 241 yards on the ground. This is Duncan's third straight 100+ yard rushing game and his first 200+ rushing game as he leads all of HBCU Division II in rushing, SIAC rushing leader and one of the leading rushers for all of NCAA DII football.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JORDAN THOMPSON, KENTUCKY STATE UNIVERSITY
Defensive End | Sophomore | Leander, Texas
Thompson delivered a standout defensive performance, recording a season-high 10 tackles with five solo and five assisted stops. He was dominant in the backfield, tallying three sacks for a loss of 15 yards and adding four tackles for a total loss of 18 yards.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JAXON WILLIAMS, BENEDICT COLLEGE
Wide Receiver | Sophomore | Dothan, Ala.
Williams continues to be one of the most dangerous kickoff return men in the country. Against Tuskegee, Williams had three kickoff returns for 143 yards. He had a 97 yard return to open the second half. Williams also had 4 receptions for 47 yards and one touchdown.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – DARIUS OCEAN, BENEDICT COLLEGE
Quarterback | Senior | Raleigh N.C.
Transfer quarterback Darius Ocean made his first start of the season and was instrumental in Benedict's 45-24 victory over Tuskegee in a Thursday night televised game. Ocean completed 19-of-29 passes for 213 yards and four touchdowns.
