SIAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors: Sept. 23

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Women's Volleyball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 23, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in matches played last week. Karea Copeland (Miles), Talia Smith (Albany State), and Reagan Mann (Fort Valley State) were recognized.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER AND NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – KAREA COPELAND, MILES COLLEGE
Outside Hitter | Freshman | Newnan, Ga.
Copeland averaged 15 kills and hit .270 as the Lady Bears won both matches this past week. In a five-setter at Stillman, Copeland had 19 kills, 14 digs and 2 blocks. In a straight-set home win against Tougaloo, she hit .391 (12-3-23) with three assists, four service aces, three digs and a block.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TALIA SMITH, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Defensive Specialist | Senior | Fairburn, Ga.
Smith gave gritty performances in passing, serve-receive, and defense. Her ability to dig out difficult shots and keep rallies alive made a difference when the pressure was on. She also contributed in serve/serve-receive phases that turned momentum and helped the team convert tight situations into points.

SETTER OF THE WEEK – REAGAN MANN, FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
Setter | Freshman | Decatur, Ga.
Mann commanded the offense this week for the Wildcats with 47 assists in five sets played through two matches. She also tallied 12 digs and two block assists to cap off an outstanding undefeated week for the Wildcats.
