SAVANNAH, Ga. —
Savannah State University graduate Roy Ellison has been selected as the umpire on the officiating crew for Super Bowl LX which will be played February 8 between the AFC Champion New England Patriots and the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
It will be Ellison's fourth Super Bowl assignment, having also worked the 2023, 2018 and 2009 Super Bowls. He also was a part of the officiating crew for the 2004 Pro Bowl.
A former guard and center with the SSU football team (1983-86), Ellison was a part of the offensive line that paved the way for Casey Grigley to become the first 1,000-yard rusher in the history of the program in 1985.
The Lakeland, Florida native has been a National Football league official since 2003.
Ellison, who graduated with honors from Savannah State in 1987 with a degree in computer science and worked as a IT engineer, has also officiated games in NFL Europe, Arena Football League, XFL and aF2 in addition to working on the college level in several conferences (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Mid-American Conference and Conference USA).
Ellison was also recognized for his academic prowess, having been selected to the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Team in 1987.
