MORROW, Ga. — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference turned its attention to the 2026-27 basketball season Tuesday, Sept. 29, as student-athletes, coaches and administrators convened at The Morrow Center for the 2026 SIAC Basketball Media Day presented by Georgia Power.
Teams met with local and national media members following in-depth panel discussions led by returning media day moderator Marvin L. James II. A 26-year veteran sports reporter, James currently serves as director of media relations for the Georgia High School Association.
The conference announced its 2026-27 preseason honors and predicted orders of finish, with defending SIAC champions Morehouse College and Miles College voted to finish No. 1 in the men's and women's standings, respectively.
The 2026-27 season also marks a new scheduling format for SIAC basketball, with divisional play eliminated from both men's and women's competition.
Representing presenting sponsor Georgia Power, Southern Company Staff Recruiting Consultant Kenneth Holiday delivered special remarks and words of encouragement to participating teams. Holiday works extensively in campus recruitment and student programming, engaging with universities and overseeing diversity and HBCU recruitment initiatives throughout the region.

In addition to speaking with the media Tuesday, teams visited students at Clayton County Public Schools as part of SIAC Basketball Community Service Day on Monday afternoon.
The visits provided CCPS students an opportunity to engage directly with SIAC student-athletes, coaches and administrators while extending the conference's presence beyond the court.
