SIAC Softball Weekly Honors: Feb. 10

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 10, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Gabriela Garcia and Delaney Gray of Miles College were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – GABRIELA GARCIA, MILES COLLEGE
Shortstop/Utility | Graduate | San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico
Garcia had a big week at the plate for the 3-1 Lady Bears. She slashed .500/.538/1.083, going 6-for-12 with four runs, four doubles, a home run, and five RBI. She drove in at least one run in each of Miles' four games. Garcia hit a solo home run for her first hit of the season in the opener against Talladega and followed that with two doubles and two RBI in the nightcap of the doubleheader. She also had two doubles and a RBI in the second game of a doubleheader against Christian Brothers that saw Miles earn their first-ever victory against the Gulf South Conference program.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – DELANEY GRAY, MILES COLLEGE
Pitcher/Third Base | Junior | Longview, Texas
Gray pitched two complete-game shutouts this week, allowing just six hits and no walks while striking out 14 in 12.0 innings of work. In the season-opener against Talladega, she struck out 11 of the 17 batters she faced in five innings of an 8-0 victory. In the nightcap of a doubleheader against Christian Brothers, she allowed just four hits and struck out three in a 7-0 win. She also went 5-for-7 at the plate with four RBI in three games.
