ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 3, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week.
Aaniyah Allen (
Fort Valley State) and
Paris Triplett (
Albany State) were recognized.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – AANIYAH ALLEN, FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
Guard | Junior | Elberton, Ga.
Allen was a pivotal piece in the Wildcats' best week of the season, going 2-1. She totaled 57 points on 20 field goals, including a trio of 3-pointers, and went an impressive 16-for-23 from the free-throw line. Allen contributed on all sides of the ball, adding 16 rebounds, 10 assists, 11 steals and one block.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – PARIS TRIPLETT, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Center | Sophomore | Orlando, Fla.
Triplett was a force in the paint for Albany State during games against Fort Valley State and Clark Atlanta. The newcomer made her presence felt on the boards and defensively while providing efficient scoring around the basket. Triplett's physicality, rebounding ability, and hustle were instrumental in setting the tone for the Lady Golden Rams throughout the week.
