Savannah State Earns Another Split at Second Day of SIAC Crossover

ORLANDO, Fla. — During Friday's action in the SIAC roundup, Savannah State earned another split, losing to Tuskegee but beating in-state rival Albany State.

Tuskegee defeated SSU 6-1 but the Lady Tigers bounced back to top Albany State 5-2 in the second match.

Against Tuskegee, SSU lost all doubles matches with Madeleine Anne Nolan and Jaeda Cooper and Nyla Warner and Sunzahra Banks losing their matches 6-1. Amaia Connor and Simone Reese fell in their match 6-0.

Madeleine Anne Nolan  picked up SSU's only singles win against Tuskegee, with a 6-2,0-6,10-8 victory.

Falling short in their singles matches were Nyla Warner (6-1, 6-1), Jaeda Cooper (6-1, 6-3), Sunzahra Banks (6-3, 6-0), Katelynn Welch (6-1, 6-0) and Simone Reese (6-1, 6-1).

Savannah State swept the doubles matches against the Golden Rams.

Nolan/Cooper won 6-4, Warner/Banks won 6-2 and Welch/Connor won by default.

Warner won her singles match 6-0, 6-0 while Banks (6-3, 6-4), Welch (6-1, 6-1) and Connor (won by default) were also victorious. Nolan lost her match 6-4, 6-2 and Cooper fell her her match 6-4, 6-4.

Savannah will wrap up the roundup on Saturday with matches against Edward Waters and Clark Atlanta.
