Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers Down Tuskegee to Advance to SIAC Semifinals Against Miles

Garner's 19 points powers Clark Atlanta past Tuskegee

MORROW, Ga. — The Clark Atlanta University women's basketball team opened SIAC Tournament play with a 62-52 victory over Tuskegee on Thursday morning.

Clark Atlanta (18-11, 17-7 SIAC) set the tone early, jumping out to a strong start and leading 17-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Panthers maintained control throughout the contest and used a 20-point third quarter to create separation before closing out the 10-point win.

Atreonia Garner paced the Panthers with a game-high 19 points, going 9-of-10 from the free-throw line while adding five rebounds and two steals, while Aanisah Moncrief contributed 11 points and four rebounds.

Joirdyn Smith also reached double figures with 10 points on an efficient 4-of-5 shooting performance, including two three-pointers. Shawn Tate added eight points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to help anchor the Panthers on the glass.

As a team, Clark Atlanta shot 21-of-48 from the field and controlled the paint with 32 points inside while outrebounding Tuskegee 38-33.

With the win, Clark Atlanta advances to face Miles College in the SIAC Tournament Semifinals tomorrow at 11 a.m.
