LEXINGTON, Ky. — Head men's golf coach
Robert Duff earned his first career win, leading
Kentucky State men's golf through a three-hole playoff as the Thorobreds took the team title at the Midway Eagle Invitational.
The Thorobreds improved by one stroke with a 296 after an opening-round 297 that left them off the lead set by Marian's first-round 290. Marian's final-round 303 forced a team playoff. After tying the first two holes of the playoff, the Thorobreds secured the win on the third hole.
Both
Jean-Marc Chevrotiere and
Ryan Courtney earned all-tournament honors.
Following an opening-round 74, Courtney began his climb to the top of the leaderboard, improving in the final round by six strokes with a 3-under-par 69 to force the individual title into a playoff and finish second.
Teammates
Robert Johnson and Chevrotiere finished tied for fifth, as both posted a tournament total of 149. Chevrotiere opened the tournament with his best round of 73, while Johnson improved by one stroke in the final round with a 74.
Brady Hensley carded a 75 in the first round and a 77 in the second round to finish 12th.
Garrison Barton rounded out the Thorobreds with an 85 in both rounds of the tournament.
