Morehouse Breaks Into Black College Nines Top 10 Ahead of Key Weekend Series

Maroon Tigers crack Top Ten for the first time

ATLANTA — The Morehouse College baseball team has reached another milestone in its resurgent 2026 season, as the Maroon Tigers cracked the Black College Nines HBCU Baseball Top 10 Poll for the first time in program history.

Morehouse checked in at No. 10 in the latest Black College Nines poll, marking the first time the Maroon Tigers have appeared in the national top 10 since the poll's inception in 2015. The ranking is another significant step forward for a Morehouse program that continues to build momentum in SIAC play and gain recognition on the national HBCU baseball stage.

The Maroon Tigers entered the poll after putting together one of their strongest campaigns in recent memory, positioning themselves among the top small-school HBCU baseball programs in the country. Black College Nines separates its rankings into large-school and small-school divisions, with Morehouse earning its place among the nation's top small-school programs.

The honor comes at a pivotal point in the season, as Morehouse heads into one of its most important conference weekends of the year. The Maroon Tigers will face rival Clark Atlanta in a critical SIAC series this weekend in Peachtree City, with postseason positioning and city bragging rights on the line.

With the regular season entering the stretch run, the national ranking reflects both the progress of the program and the opportunity that still remains in front of it. Now ranked among the HBCU nation's top 10, Morehouse will look to keep its momentum rolling against one of its biggest rivals.
