SIAC Softball Weekly Honors: April 14

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week on Tuesday, April 14, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Abbigale Jones and McKenzie Fitch of Albany State University were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – ABBIGALE JONES, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Infielder | Freshman | Springfield, Ga.
Jones was instrumental in Albany State's three-game sweep over Clark Atlanta. She hit a crucial two-run home run in the ninth inning of Game 1, securing a 3-2 extra-inning victory. In Game 2, she added another home run, contributing to a 7-5 win. In the finale, Jones delivered a two-run triple, helping seal a 6-4 victory. Throughout the series, she consistently produced key hits and drove in important runs.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – MCKENZIE FITCH, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Pitcher | Freshman | Dacula, Ga.
Fitch delivered a standout performance in Albany State’s three-game sweep over Clark Atlanta. In Game 1, she pitched a complete nine-inning game, securing a 3-2 victory while allowing only two runs. Fitch returned in Game 2 to close out the game in relief, preserving the win. In Game 3, she again pitched a complete game, allowing four runs and leading to a 6-4 win. Her consistency and composure were key in helping Albany State extend its winning streak to eight games.
