SIAC Baseball Weekly Honors: April 21

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday, April 21, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Ty Grover (Albany State) and Lefrederick Wooten (Benedict) were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TY GROVER, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Infielder | Junior | Spring Hill, Fla.
Grover had an exceptional week, playing a key role in the Golden Rams' conference series sweep. He was a strong offensive presence, recording several multi-hit games, including a perfect 5-for-5 performance with three RBIs in the first game of the doubleheader. Grover showcased both power and precision, hitting a home run and consistently applying pressure on opposing defenses. His contributions included multiple RBIs, runs scored, and crucial hits in the series finale, which helped secure a late-game comeback victory.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – LEFREDERICK WOOTEN, BENEDICT COLLEGE
Pitcher | Junior | Council, N.C.
Wooten threw a nine-inning complete game in Game 1 of their SIAC series against Tuskegee, throwing a one-hitter. Wooten allowed one hit - a ninth-inning solo home run - while walking just two and striking out eight. He threw 99 pitches and faced 32 batters - five more than the minimum. He improved his record to 8-1 and lowered his ERA to 5.88.
