ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday, April 28, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week.
Daniel Donaldson-Fountain (
Edward Waters) and
Austin McCormack (
Savannah State) were recognized.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – DANIEL DONALDSON-FOUNTAIN, EDWARD WATERS UNIVERSITY
Outfielder | Junior | Tallahassee, Fla.
Donaldson-Fountain continued his strong play at the plate, leading Edward Waters to a three-game series sweep of LeMoyne-Owen and a midweek win over Flagler. He totaled 12 hits, nine runs and nine RBIs, adding three home runs, three doubles and four stolen bases while drawing five walks. Donaldson-Fountain posted a .800 batting average, 1.600 slugging percentage and a .810 on-base percentage as the Tigers finished 4-0 on the week.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – AUSTIN MCCORMACK, SAVANNAH STATE UNIVERSITY
Left-Handed Pitcher | Sophomore | Tampa, Fla.
McCormack led Savannah State to a 20-4 win, tossing a seven-inning complete game with eight strikeouts while allowing four hits and two earned runs. The left-hander controlled the game throughout and improved to 7-2 on the season.
