MOBILE, Ala. – The
Spring Hill men's tennis team picked up a pair of victories on Day One of the SIAC Roundup, defeating
Tuskegee 5-2 before following up with a 5-0 sweep of
LeMoyne-Owen. The Roundup runs through Friday, with the Badgers playing two matches per day.
MATCH DETAILS
The Golden Tigers picked up the doubles point in the first match, but the Badgers went to work in singles action, with Filipe Grebenstov quickly picking up a victory in the first set to get Spring Hill on the board.
Evan Patton followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win on Court 5 to give SHC a 2-1 lead, with
Luke Bedwell's 6-4, 6-3 Court 4 victory adding to the Badgers' total.
Will Huckell came away with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the fourth flight to officially earn the clinching point, while
Tom Ruel was credited with a win after his opponent retired on Court 3.
Spring Hill changed up the lineup for the nightcap but still managed to sweep doubles before earning a point by default in singles action to go up 2-0.
Leonard Wendland made his collegiate debut with a 6-0, 6-0 win on Court 4, and Patton earned the clinch with another clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep on Court 2.
