Albany State Splits Day One at SIAC Roundup, Finish Strong With Victory Over Benedict

MOBILE, Ala. — The Albany State Lady Golden Rams showcased resilience and growth on Day 1 of the SIAC Women's Tennis Roundup II, closing out the day with a strong 4-1 victory over Benedict after opening competition against Edward Waters.

In the first match of the day, the Lady Golden Rams battled through a tough contest against Edward Waters. While the opposition claimed the doubles point, Albany State's pairs of Brooklyn Bowen and Ameerah Mesidor, along with Monique Gundrum and Le'Ashia Miller, displayed determination and competitive energy throughout.

The Lady Golden Rams found success in singles play, where Gundrum and Bowen each delivered impressive performances to secure points for Albany State. Their efforts highlighted the team's ability to compete and respond, setting the stage for a stronger finish later in the day.

Albany State carried that momentum into its second match against Benedict, where the Lady Golden Rams put together a complete performance from start to finish. In doubles play, the duos of Autumn Bryant and Jada Conley, along with Gundrum and Miller, established control early, securing the doubles point and setting the tone for the match.

That energy carried seamlessly into singles competition. Ameerah Mesidor, Bryant, and Conley each delivered key victories, showcasing confidence and execution to push Albany State ahead. Gundrum also contributed a strong showing, winning her opening set and continuing her consistent play on the day.

The Lady Golden Rams' ability to regroup, respond, and finish strong was the highlight of Day 1, as they demonstrated depth across the lineup and a competitive edge in conference play.

Albany State will look to build on that momentum heading into Day 2, where they are set to face Clark Atlanta at 9:00 a.m. and Tuskegee at 2:00 p.m.
