ATLANTA —
Clark Atlanta scored touchdowns in each quarter and totaled 394 yards of offense to defeat Morehouse 31-21 on Saturday afternoon at B.T. Harvey Stadium in the 2026 ATL Labor Day Classic.
The Panthers improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while Morehouse fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference. With the win, Clark Atlanta has now won three straight against the Maroon Tigers.
Trayvon Pinder opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run after
Rodarial Abercrombie caught a 55-yard pass to set the Panthers up in the red zone, giving Clark Atlanta a 7-0 lead with 13:07 remaining in the first quarter. Morehouse responded with a field goal before Chase DeVaughn scored on a 30-yard run to put the Maroon Tigers ahead 9-7.
Clark Atlanta reclaimed the lead in the second quarter when
Kelan Anderson capped an 80-yard drive with a 39-yard touchdown run.
Joseph Wright added a field goal following an interception by
Artellious Edmond, sending the Panthers into halftime with a 17-9 advantage.
Morehouse pulled within two points on Savion Red's 6-yard touchdown run with 9:11 remaining in the third quarter. The Panthers answered with a nine-play, 70-yard drive, capped by
Xzavier Jackson's 14-yard touchdown pass to
Chry'shawn Sellers.
DeVaughn scored his second touchdown on a 10-yard run early in the fourth quarter to cut Clark Atlanta's lead to 24-21. Jackson and Sellers connected again on the Panthers' ensuing possession, this time for a 51-yard touchdown that extended the lead to 31-21 with 11:40 remaining.
Clark Atlanta's defense held Morehouse scoreless for the remainder of the game, forcing a punt and a turnover on downs on the Maroon Tigers' final two possessions.
Jackson completed 13 of 22 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Sellers caught four passes for 83 yards and two scores, while
Dae'Jeaun Dennis led the Panthers with 104 rushing yards on 18 carries. Pinder added a touchdown on one carry, and Anderson finished with 49 yards and a score on five attempts.
Clark Atlanta rushed for 259 yards and averaged 7.9 yards per play. The Panthers converted both of their red-zone opportunities and did not commit a turnover.
Defensively,
Dwayne Mills Jr. led Clark Atlanta with seven tackles.
Jaiden Cleveland and
Sageny Horace recorded six tackles apiece, while DeAndre Pridgett and
Zion Harris each registered a sack. Edmond added an interception.
Morehouse finished with 356 yards of offense, including 193 through the air and 163 on the ground. DeVaughn rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, while Miles Scott completed 16 of 35 passes for 193 yards and one interception.
