ATLANTA —
Clark Atlanta women's volleyball hosted the inaugural Lady Panther Volleyball Invitational at L.S. Epps Gymnasium this weekend (Sept. 4-5) where they went 3-1 overall across four matches.
Clark Atlanta vs. Tuskegee (Game 1)
The Lady Panthers fell by set scores of 26-24, 25-22, and 25-23. Clark Atlanta held a 24-22 advantage in the opening set before Tuskegee scored four consecutive points to secure the frame.
Antonique Coleman led Clark Atlanta with 10 kills, four blocks and a .450 hitting percentage. Brianna Little added nine kills while hitting .533, and
Sydney Ray recorded 28 assists and a team-high 18 digs.
Nakayla James contributed 12 digs.
Clark Atlanta finished with 38 kills, 60 digs, six service aces, and six blocks.
Clark Atlanta vs. Talladega (Game 2)
Clark Atlanta earned its first victory of the season with a 3-0 sweep of Talladega on Friday evening.
The Lady Panthers (1-1, 0-1 SIAC) won by set scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-15. Clark Atlanta recorded 38 kills and hit .257 for the match, including a .520 hitting percentage without an attack error in the third set.
Antonique Coleman led the Lady Panthers with 14 kills, four blocks and a .545 hitting percentage.
Kai Harris added 11 kills, while
Reagan Gatlin finished with 10 kills and two service aces.
Sydney Ray distributed 34 assists,
Nakayla James collected a team-high 15 digs, and
London Jackson registered 12 digs and four service aces.
Clark Atlanta vs. Livingstone (Game 3)
Clark Atlanta improved to 2-1 on the season with a 3-1 victory over Livingstone on Saturday morning.
The Lady Panthers (2-1, 0-1 SIAC) won by set scores of 25-18, 25-19, 24-26 and 25-12. Clark Atlanta finished with 46 kills, 78 digs, 10 service aces and eight blocks while holding Livingstone to a .026 hitting percentage.
Kai Harris led the Lady Panthers with 13 kills, followed by
Reagan Gatlin with 10 and
Carmella Jones with nine. Gatlin also collected a team-high 20 digs and three service aces.
Sydney Ray recorded 32 assists and 13 digs, while
Sawyer Arbuckle added 15 digs. Brianna Little and
Antonique Coleman each finished with four blocks.
Clark Atlanta vs. Huston-Tillotson (Game 4)
Clark Atlanta erased a two-set deficit to defeat Huston-Tillotson 3-2 on Saturday evening at Epps Gymnasium.
The Lady Panthers dropped the opening two sets 25-18 and 25-21 before winning the final three by scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 15-9. Clark Atlanta hit .353 in the deciding set.
Carmella Jones and
Kai Harris led the Lady Panthers with 11 kills apiece. Jones hit .375 and added four blocks, while
Antonique Coleman finished with six kills, five blocks and a .357 hitting percentage.
Sydney Ray recorded 38 assists, 10 digs and four service aces.
Reagan Gatlin collected a team-high 16 digs as Clark Atlanta finished with 10 service aces and 10 blocks.
