Atlanta, GA—Albany State continued to move up this week’s in both the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll and D2Football.com Top 25 Media Poll. Fort Valley State also enters the AFCA Coaches’ Poll this week.
Albany State (8-0, 7-0 in the SIAC) moved up two spots in the coaches’ poll to No. 8 and four spots in the media poll to No. 7 after their last second win over then-ranked Morehouse. This is the Golden Rams highest ranking since 2004 when they finished fifth in the final coaches’ poll. Albany State will host Stillman, this Saturday at 2 p.m., for Senior Day.
Fort Valley State (7-1, 6-1 in the SIAC) enters the coaches’ poll for the first time this season, coming in at No. 25, after defeating Kentucky State last week, 14-12. The Wildcats will travel to Jackson, TN to take on Lane this week.
Albany State and Fort Valley State will face off, a week from Saturday, at the Fountain City Classic in Columbus, GA, a game that will have postseason implications and may decide this year’s SIAC champion.
Also receiving votes in this week’s coaches’ poll were Tuskegee (6-2, 5-2 in the SIAC) and Morehouse (6-2, 5-2 in the SIAC), who dropped out of the polls after their loss to Albany State.
