Albany State's White Wins National Coaching Award

Albany, GA-- Albany State University’s head football coach picked up an award as the most outstanding Division II coach for the 2010 season. Mike White won the Heritage Sports Radio Network’s (HSRN) National Division II Football Coach of the Year Award. White was one of two nominees for the football fan poll award.

“I am honored to have been selected for the award,” White said. “I always say when you receive a Coach of the Year award, it’s because you have the staff of the year. I really appreciate my staff and what they do for the program. They did a great job and that’s why I won the award.”

White, who has coached the Rams for 11 seasons, led the Golden Rams to the 2010 SBN National Black College Football Championship, the 2010 SIAC Championship title and a berth in the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Rams finished the season with impressive 11-1 overall and 10-0 perfect regular season records.

White’s 2010 Rams finished second in the nation in rushing defense and scoring defense, and third in total defense and pass efficiency defense.
