Tuskegee to host 2011 SIAC Cross Country Championship

ATLANTA— The 2011 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship will be take place this Friday, October 21st. Hosted by Tuskegee University, the championship meet is being held at Macon County Road and Bridge Department in Tuskegee, AL.

Benedict College, ranked 10th in the South region in the latest USTFCCCA DII Cross Country Regional Rankings, comes into the meet as the slight favorite in the men’s field, led by three-time defending SIAC individual champion Dickson Toroitich, who will be looking to lead the Tigers to their first team title since 2008.  Benedict will face stiff competition in a field that includes two-time defending SIAC champion Morehouse College, led by runners Michael Vinson and Shinalola Agbede, and Stillman College, winners of the SIAC West Division men’s regular season title.
 
Clark Atlanta University, led by Markeshia Woodson and Brittany Robinson, and Kentucky State University, winners of the SIAC West Division women’s regular season title, lead the way in a women’s field looking to unseat defending SIAC champion Albany State University. The Lady Rams are led by senior Brittany Carter, who finished second individually at the 2010 championship, while Kentucky State is led by the duo of Kristina Record and Krisja Curlin.
