Tuskegee at Kentucky State
It was a battle of the defenses as the Kentucky State University Thorobreds took on the Tuskegee Golden Tigers at Alumni Stadium. The Thorobreds defeated the Golden Tigers, 20–0, for the first time in 14 years. The victory was in front of a crowd of 5,391 for the first Sideline Cancer football game.
Tuskegee won the coin toss and elected to receive for the first half. Justin Nared of the Golden Tigers rushed for 19 yards to give them a first down on their first possession of the game. The Thorobreds defensive line held tough throughout the first half, leaving Tuskegee scoreless.
With 20 seconds left in the half, Jerrel Noland completed a 19 yard pass to Raphael Amey that set freshman kicker, Cade Berryman up for a successful 40 yard field goal attempt. The Breds headed to the locker room on top of the Golden Tigers 3-0.
In the third quarter, Kevin Phinazee fumbled a punt and KSU’s fullback, David Keown recovered the fumble. This fumble recovery allowed the Noland to complete a 10 yard pass to James Happy which resulted in a touchdown with 3:30 left in the third quarter. With nine seconds left in the third quarter, Tuskegee fumbled the ball and was recovered by JacQuan Persley. This fumble set up a 20-yard pass completion from Noland to Raphael Amey for another touchdown.
Tuskegee had the first possession of the third quarter. Quarterback, Justin Nared fumbled the ball and junior, Carlos Ware recovered the ball at Tuskegee’s 22 yard line, giving the Breds possession again. Kentucky State ended their drive with a successful field goal by Berryman which left the game 20-0.
Tuskegee’s offense was led by Byron Key with nine carries for 43 yards. Isaiah Person had a game-high 13 tackles, including one tackle for loss of two yards and one quarterback hurry. Christopher Williams had a game-high three quarterback hurries and two tackles for loss of nine yards, including one sack.
Andrew Ramsey led in rushing with 47 yards, a long of 13. Quarterback, Noland ended the game with 166 passing yards, 32 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns and a sack. Amey caught 6 passes for 74 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Thorobred defense was led by Persley with 8 tackles and two sacks for loss of 8 yards, along with a forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry. Lewis “Gaige” Courtney and Stephen Scarborough followed with 6 tackles.
For the Thorobreds, the winless drought is over as they gallop one game closer to .500 in the SIAC

Stillman at Fort Valley State
Playing in front of an emotional-driven crowd, Stillman fell 52-3 to Fort Valley State as the Wildcats celebrated homecoming.
Six turnovers (four fumbles and two interceptions) led to 28 points, including two of FVSU's first three touchdowns in the first half and two more in the second half.
The game opened in an unusual fashion for the Tigers as they quickly found themselves on the tail end of a double-digit deficit. On their opening possession, Fort Valley State drove 71 yards in eight plays, capping the drive with an 33-yard pass from Cameron Pearson to Christopher Slaughter. On Stillman's first possession, the Wildcat defense stuffed a run play forcing a fumble with FVSU's Benard Goodrum scooping up the live ball and racing 33 yards for another score.
Following a quick change of possession, FVSU's Pearson found Demario Barber for a 53-yard catch and run play to put the Wildcats up 21-0. Closing out the quarter, Wildcat kicker Justin Rosenbaum kicked a 52-yard field goal with under a minute on the clock to build the lead to 24-0.
Stillman would get on the scoreboard as Alejandro Perez-Huerta kicked a 28-yard field goal, cutting the score to 24-3.
While Stillman would control the clock in the first half, it was FVSU who was able to take advantage of three turnovers, two of them leading to Wildcat scores.
In the third frame, Stillman looked to get back on track defensively as cornerback Robert Crosby intercepted a Pearson pass, putting an end to the FVSU drive. However, on the next play, Stillman would fumble the handoff and return the ball back to the Wildcats. FVSU would change the scoreboard a few plays later as Travis Richmond would score from four yards out.
After forcing the Tigers to stall on their next possession, FVSU would again use the big play, this time a 24-yard pass play from Pearson to Slaughter in the back corner of the end zone would make the score 38-3 in favor of the Wildcats with 2:15 remaining in the third period. FVSU would add two more scores - a three-yard run by Aaron Courtney and an 85-yard punt return by Demario Barber for the final score.
In the game, FVSU gained 346 yards of total offense (200 pass, 146 rush) while holding Stillman to 118 (54 rush, 64 pass).

Benedict at Morehouse
Morehouse's David Carter scored on an 11-yard run with 19 seconds left in the game to dash Benedict College's upset bid and lift the Maroon Tigers to a 37-31 victory over the Tigers in an SIAC East Division clash Saturday.
In a back-and-forth battle, the Tigers took a 31-29 lead with 3:53 left to play when Justin Shaw forced a fumble by Thomas Williams and scooped up the loose ball and sprinted 73 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.
Derrick Hector returned the ensuing kickoff 32 yards to the Benedict 48-yard line. Then, facing a fourth-and-six at the Benedict 32-yard line, Morehouse quarterback Byron Ingram completed a seven-yard pass to Hector. With the Maroon Tigers facing another critical third-and-13 at the 28, Ingram rushed for a 17-yard pickup on the quarterback keeper. A pair of incomplete passes saw the Maroon Tigers facing another third down and the clock winding down. The Maroon Tigers opted for a running play, apparently trying to set up for a potential game-winning field goal, but instead Carter scooted around the corner and made his way into the right corner of the end zone.
Benedict drops to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in the SIAC. Morehouse improves to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the SIAC.
Quarterback Johnny Carson completed 17-of-35 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown. He also had two interceptions. Emmanuel Houston had four receptions for 80 yards, including a 26-yard scoring strike that cut Morehouse's lead to 26-25 with 8:28 left in the third quarter. Tyquan Bazemore led the Tigers with 51 yards rushing with one touchdown and also had four catches for 28 yards.
Benedict's defense had a big day, forcing two Morehouse fumbles and recording two interceptions. The Tiger defense scored on Shaw's fumble return and a 15-yard interception return by Jeremy Vaughn. Vaughn also picked up a fumble by the Morehouse kicker after a bad snap on an extra point, and returned it the length of the field for a two-point defensive PAT.
Morehouse took an early 7-0 lead, but then the Tigers tied the game on a 3-yard touchdown run by Bazemore.
Benedict took its first lead after Anthony Davis forced a fumble and returned it to the Morehouse 3-yard line. The Tigers couldn't find the end zone, and Andy Polanco kicked a 22-yard field goal to give the Tigers a 10-7 lead.
Vaughn's 15-yard interception return for a touchdown with 10:18 left in the second quarter put the Tigers ahead 16-7, but the momentum was short lived. The Maroon Tigers got a 63-yard kickoff return down to the 5-yard line, where David Carter punched it in to make it 16-14.
Morehouse's Brandon Houston intercepted a Carson pass to set up the Maroon Tigers' next score, a four-yard run by Carter.
Ingram completed a 2-yard pass to Khamarr Smith for a Morehouse touchdown, but Vaughn returned the PAT fumble back to make the score 26-18 at the half.
The Tigers went on a 77-yard drive in the third quarter, highlighted by the 26-yard pass from Carson to Houston on fourth down for a touchdown to make the score 26-25.
Another interception by Carson late in the third quarter led to another drive by the Maroon Tigers. Morehouse had a first-and-goal at the 7-yard line, but the Benedict defense held firm and the Maroon Tigers settled for a 23-yard field goal and a 29-25 lead with 22 seconds left in the third quarter.
On Benedict's next possession, the Tigers moved to the Morehouse 10-yard line, before going backwards on a sack and a 20-yard intentional grounding penalty, which forced Benedict to punt. The Maroon Tigers started the ensuing drive at their own 9-yard line and moved all the way to the Benedict 25-yard line, where Shaw forced the fumble and returned it for a touchdown and the lead, stunning the large Homecoming crowd at Morehouse.
Carter, the SIAC's top rusher, finished with 112 yards and three touchdowns for the Maroon Tigers. Ingram completed 12-of-25 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Jamaal Massaline led the Benedict defense with 13 tackles. Davis had 12 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Brandon Houston led the Maroon Tiger defense with seven tackles and also had two picks while Scottie Williams finished with three sacks.

Clark Atlanta at Albany State
The Albany State Golden Rams defeated the Clark Atlanta Panthers, 19-13, in front of 7,523 fans at the Rumble in the Swamp Classic in Waycross, GA.
After a scoreless first quarter, each team got on the board in the second period with a 40-yarder by Clark Atlanta’s Kemuel Lawrence and three field goals from Albany State’s Brandon Hamilton (21, 35, 37), giving the Golden Rams a 9-3 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Lawrence would add a 30-yard field goal for the only points of the quarter, cutting the ASU lead to three.
In the final period, Albany State would score the game’s first touchdown on a 5-yard pass from Stan Jennings to Cessel Taylor
After another Brandon Hamilton field goal made the score 19-6, Clark Atlanta’s Tyree Williams hit Darrion McPherson for a 35-yard touchdown pass but it wouldn’t be enough as the Golden Rams would hold on for the victory.
ASU’s Orion Ponder finished with five catches for 109 yards while Jennings threw for 234 yards and a touchdown. CAU’s McPherson caught five passes for 105 yards and a touchdown while Kiece Crite led all tacklers with 12 stops. Rashad McRae led ASU with stops.

Lane at Miles
In front of a homecoming crowd of 13, 613, the Miles College Golden Bears beat the Lane College Dragons handily, 37-3, at Albert Sloan-Alumni Stadium in Fairfield, AL.
Miles scored first midway through the first quarter when David Thomas hit Antonio Pitts for a 25-yard touchdown pass.
Midway through the second quarter, Lane would score their only points of the game on a 38-yard field goal by Ryan Bullock.
The Golden Bears would then score 30 unanswered points the rest of the way, including three touchdowns passes and a touchdown run by David Thomas. The scoring onslaught also included a Patton Chambers also added a 38-yard field goal in the second quarter.
In addition to his five total touchdowns, Thomas completed 13 of 20 passes for 215 yards while also running for 44 yards. Emmett Terry also ran for 109 yards on 17 carries for the Golden Bears.
The Golden Bears defense, led by nine tackles from Julanta English, held the Dragons to just 156 yards of total offense.
Corey Jones led Lane with 14 tackles, including six solo tackles, while Paris Hopper finished with 10 tackles.
