Stillman duo named USTFCCCA Field Athletes of the Year
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the organization’s region athletes and coaches of the year for the 2013 NCAA Division II outdoor track & field season.
Stillman College juniors Jeffrey Henderson and Euphemia Edem were named 2013 Men's and Women's South Region USTFCCCA Field Athletes of the Year, respectively.
Henderson enters the NCAA Championships as the No. 5 seed in the long jump with a best of 25 1/2 (7.63m). He won the SIAC titles in the long jump and added crowns in the 100 and 200 meter events, where he also qualified for nationals in the events.
A junior from Cross River State, Nigeria, Edem is ranked No. 4 in Division II in the triple jump at 41-9 1/4 (12.73m) and No. 11 in the long jump at 19-8 1/4 (6.00m). She won the triple jump at the SIAC Championships, while finishing fourth in the long jump and ran a leg on the third-place 4x100 relay team.
The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set to begin in Pueblo, Colo., on Thursday, May 23 and will last through Friday, May 25.
